1960-1970: From a very early age, Pietro Prati, founder of the Prati company, worked in his father’s workshop and followed a professional diploma course in mechanical engineering.
After completing his diploma studies, he gained experience in the mechanical and offset printing machine service sectors. This enabled him to develop sound skills in the field of graphics, and he designed and developed a number of special machines; these constituted his first success in the “made to measure” field (at the end of the ‘Sixties).

1973:Pietro Prati establishes the Officina Meccanica Prati (Prati Mechanical Workshop) with the aim of carrying out the servicing and overhauling of printing machines.

1974: Soon after its first year, the company begins to change direction and to turn its attention to the construction of finishing machines. In fact, it produced the first matrix scraper for adhesive labels.

1980: Prati focuses its attention on the construction of machinery for finishing adhesive labels. The first TC300 slitting rewinder inspection machinewas designed and produced.

1980 – 1990: Prati machinery is sold and respected throughout the world, thanks in part to an organised network of distributors. At the same time, Prati also undertakes the overhauling of Roland sheet machinery, and assembly and assistance for Koenig & Bauer machinery with exclusive rights in Italy.

1986: An agreement is reached with Gallus and several special slitting rewinder inspection machinesare constructed, known as the TC400 – GALLUS. In the same year the first automatic inspection machine was shown at Drupa exhibition.

1993: First Labelexpo for the Officina Meccanica Prati which introduces the first slitting rewinder inspection machineunder the management of PLC & CNC Siemens. With this machinery, Officina Meccanica Prati embarks on a new era of entirely electronic slitting rewinder inspection machine.

1994: Prati’s daughter Chiara starts work in the family business.

1995: The first RECORD – TC280S slitting rewinder inspection machineis introduced at Labelexpo, the first to be aimed at those customers who require an exact number of labels in the finished reels, and who need to speed up the contact and closing functions of the reels.

1997: At Ipack-Ima and, a few months later, at Labelexpo, Officina Meccanica Prati launches two new machinery models, the TC280/330E slitting rewinder inspection machineand the TSIJ 100/130Ink-Jet overprinting table.

The TC280/330E is the simplified version of the TC280/400 slitting rewinder inspection machine. This machine is aimed at satisfying the needs of the sector of the market, which for technical or economic reasons, does not require a high level of technology.

The TSIJ 100/130 overprinting table is a machine which permits any type of labelling on either the label or medium using either an ink-jet or laser printer. It is particularly aimed at the pharmaceutical sector.

1999: The first 100% Quality Inspection machine is introduced at Labelexpo, the TCVL100, a bi-directional machine specifically for inspecting pharmaceutical and cosmetic labels.

In the same year, Prati’s patented shaft on the slitting rewinder inspection machineTC280S for rewinding without a core is introduced.

2001: is a year full of “innovation”. The company changes its name from Officina Meccanica Prati to PRATI “The label inspection company”. Annalisa Prati, the second daughter, joins the co
